Vacuuming, ironing, mopping and washing: none of these is my favourite activities. And then you have additional cleaning things, which you never think about, but have to be done. Cleaning the iron, grease stains on the couch or cleaning the microwave: it’s even less fun than vacuuming and shampooing, but very necessary.
Cleaning the Microwave
Take a sponge, pour a little dish soap on it and make the sponge foam. Put the sponge in the microwave, turn on the appliance, and then run the sponge through the microwave without any effort. Bonus: in addition to “loosening” the microwave, all the bacteria and foul odors will also go out of the sponge.
Cleaning the Mattress
You may not think about it, but the mattress also needs to be cleaned regularly. Skin residues, dust mites and sweat patches are not really pleasant to lie among. You can solve this by spreading baking soda on the mattress, letting it soak in and vacuuming it up with the vacuum cleaner. Handy and fast.
Desinfect Wooden Cutting Boards
Just sprinkle a little salt on the board, rub a lemon on it, rinse the board with warm water and you’re done.
Cleaning the Toaster
The toaster can leave behind quite a few crumbs. By using a toothbrush, you can more easily reach difficult spots to clean the device.
Cleaning the Iron
The iron also needs to be cleaned: how? Make sure there is no water left in it and the steam function is off. Sprinkle a little salt on a sheet of baking paper and go over the salt with the iron, on the hottest setting.
Cleaning the Faucet
Over time, the faucet loses its luster and calcifies. The solution? Rub a piece of baking paper over the faucet and you’re done.
Remove Grease Stains in Clothing
Can you finally that nice dress or fantastic shirt to, you’re not even 10 minutes at the party there is already a grease stain on. Very annoying. What can you do about it? Simple, rub the grease spot with a piece of chalk, let it soak in for a while and put the garment in the washing machine.
Cleaning the Blinds
This is perhaps the most irritating chore in the house. You clean them with a lot of effort and a day later there is already dust on them again. How to make the chore simpler? Take an old sock, pull it over your hand and go over the blinds with that hand.
Cleaning Pots & Pans
Dirty pans? Salt is the solution. Sprinkle a little salt in the pan and rub it well. Let it soak in and wash the pans off with water.
Remove Stains from the Carpet
Mix 2 parts water with 1 part vinegar and pour into a spray bottle. Spray this over the stain, place a damp tea towel over it, go over it with the iron, with steam setting, for 30 seconds, remove the cloth and the stain is gone. Still not completely? Repeat the process.
Cleaning the Windows
Use a newspaper, after window washing, so they dry clean and streak-free. Incredibly convenient.
